Kerala government gave the nod for a path-breaking bill this week that will ensure paddy fields not being converted into land for other purposes.

 

The evergreen forests of Silent valley, Sreepadmanabha Swamy temple in the capital and the Jewish Synagogue at Kochi are among the seven wonders of Kerala chosen by viewers of a television channel through SMS and on-line votes. The other four wonders selected by viewers are the Periyar Wildlife sanctuary, Alappuzha, Kumarakom backwaters and snake temple at Mannarasala near Haripad in Alappuzha district.

 

India plans to allow Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) architects, doctors, engineers and chartered accountants to practise in India.

 

Hundreds of residents of Kanjikode village in Palakkad staged a protest against a proposed rail coach factory.
